Bent a tie rod out on the trail today WTF!! I was only going 3mph and I baby my machine, its never been over 50 and I dont drive in mud! BRP makes overpriced junk!! :th_smilieboohoo:

Just kidding haha, I did bend a tie rod though, hit a stump in some tall grass that I didnt see and bent it pretty good, luckily I was going pretty slow when it happened. Anyways, wondering what you recommend for replacements. I want to go with a rod with ends set, and was reading most people recommend American Star but I keep coming across threads about them not fitting on the pitman arm properly? I've also been reading about the All Balls replacement set, looking for any feedback on those if anybody is running them. Also, when I change this thing out Im assuming Im going to have to align it, what is the best method for me to do so in my driveway. Thanks!

I put the American star pro set on my Brute Force and it was a great fit and way heavier then stock set. Hope you get a fitment answer because I am hoping to use them as well.

It was a good lesson learned for me, I knew the stockers were weak and I was going to replace them preemptively when I first bought the machine and did the build, but my budget was running short after Elkas, clutching and tires, and I got cheap and decided to wait. Luckily it didn't leave me stranded far from home or anything, and I should be back up and running pretty quickly as long as lining it up isnt really hard.

I've got a set od American Stars on my g2 Renegade and there are no fitment issues. Much heavier than oem and still tight after 3 days of hard riding at Hatfield and 2 days at Wellsville and a handful of local rides. By now my oem ends would have been clankin!

Which set did you buy? Can you post a link of the ones you went with so I know which ones fit.

Awesome, I appreciate it. I was looking at those and the set above them the MX Pros. I'm gonna call them tomorrow. I just wanted to know to know about the fit before I ordered, theres lot of threads about the ends rubbing at the pitman arm, and threads about them loosening up.

If these don't last me my next upgrade will be the hiem joints. They are much stronger by design but for the price I figured I would try these first as I have seen enough positive reviews to be comfortable Buying them. I could be wrong but the set with the chromoly sleeves still utilizes the same tie rod ends, which is what I've always had wear out on me. I suspect if you were going to bend the 5/8 sleeve my set came with you would likely bend the chromoly set...
In my younger more flexible years when I lived in Wyoming I raced downhill mountain biking on a semi competitive level, and bent more than my fair share of chromoly frames. Of course that's when the tech was still pretty new, in all fairness they may well have come a long way since then.

I went with the All Balls upgrade kit, in some of the reading I was doing I found that a lot of the aftermarket kits offered were just the rebranded All Balls product and I was able to order it through my local dealer. All Balls has all the cross reference numbers for the popular aftermarket catalogs on their site (motovan, kimpex etc.) and I got them in two days, that was a major deciding factor for me, if I went with American Stars I would've had to pay 30 bucks shipping and be down for 2-3 weeks waiting for them to arrive from the US. These All Balls parts are much beefier than stock, no rides yet but we'll see how they hold up. Heres some pics:

Don't know if the ends are different. I found the factory ends last longer than the all balls.

I have read that, and I found some older pics of the All Balls ends and these are a little different. But if they wear out quick I still have all my factory ends with low miles on them. What I did do is pump the boot full of grease, seems like all these ball joints and tie rods, factory and aftermarket, come with a very very small amount of grease in them.
