2005 Bombardier Traxter XL Clutch and/shift problems

Update: all 5 speed numbers flash after I press the shift up or shift down toggle switch. They stay on until I kill the engine.

I just purchased a used 2005 Traxter and it worked for 2 days. While driving it in 3rd gear it popped into Neutral, at least that is what the indicator light showed. So I pulled the lever back into High Drive, but it wouldn't move. I put the Traxter up on blocks to let the wheels move freely. When I shift the lever between Park, Reverse, Neutral, High, and Low, the engine makes a sound like the gears have engaged and I see the wheels spin a few degrees, but then nothing more. I checked and the linkage from the Park, Rev, Neu, Drive shifter is physically moving the shaft entering the transmission.
Can this be a clutch or shifter solenoid issue? If so, how can I check it?
Thanks in advance,

Is that a CVT belt model? Could be the belt is worn out, only allowing for a little grip/wheel movement, but slipping too much to do anything more than that. Other than that, I'm not familiar with the "clutch" models, sorry.

I would suggest that you get a service manual and a diagnostic jumper. You can make the jumper. There is a sequence to perform and the various dash lights will blink codes to indicate the potential problem(s), especially good for the shift solenoids. It will also show prior fault codes, but it gives you no idea how old they are. I recorded them, reset them to zero, started/exercised the machine and then looked for any new/current codes.
